The Children’s House, founded in 1984, is a non-profit
organization offering Montessori education in the Miami area for children 2 1/2
to 12 years old. Strengthened by a supportive community of families and a
carefully-prepared environment, this school sets itself apart from other
schools.
We welcome prospective parents to come and
observe the children in their classroom environment.
Unlimited Potential
At The Children’s House, the child is placed at the center
of the learning process. The teacher is a guide: a starkly different approach
from the “I talk, you listen” philosophy found in traditional school settings.
In following with the Montessori philosophy, each child progresses at his/her
individual pace and rhythm.
Philosophy
The school’s philosophy is based on Dr. Maria Montessori’s
work. Through observation, the directress prepares a dynamic environment which
relates to the "tendencies of man". Dr. Montessori spoke of education as an “aid
to life” that affords the child “keys to the universe.” These keys are provided
through purposeful work in the environment and facilitate the process of
becoming a life-long learner and peaceful citizen of the world.
